* The hire car, which is included in summer rentals only, is a fully insured Group B1 vehicle with air conditioning. It does not include petrol, oil or other costs. Insurance does not cover damage to tyres or the underside of vehicles. If you wish to pick up your vehicle at Heraklion airport the rental company imposes a €45.00 surcharge (including return to the airport). There is no surcharge on cars supplied to Hania airport.
** We do require proof of age. A photocopy of the child’s Birth Certificate or Passport details is acceptable.
† Please note that cleaning means sweeping or mopping floors, dusting, cleaning the bathroom and kitchen areas but does not include washing up glasses, crockery, cooking utensils etc.

Most rental companies (including the one we use) require drivers to be aged 23 or over. A premium is charged for drivers aged under 25.
A surcharge of €55.00 will apply to all cars picked up at, and returned to, Heraklion.
Rates are for accommodation and car rental,* based on occupancy by two adults.
Air conditioning is included.
Additional occupancy, a maximum of two people, is charged at £15 per person per week.
There is no charge for children aged under six** on the last day of occupancy.
No reduction for single occupancy.

The apartment is available from 2:00 p.m. on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 11:00 a.m. on the day of departure.
The apartment is cleaned each Saturday and Tuesday.
Bed linen and towels are changed each Saturday and Tuesday.
Cleaning and bed changing are excluded during rentals of longer than four weeks duration. Instead, bed linen and towels (two sets) are provided and laundered weekly.
Car rental is not included in the apartment rental but we can arrange rentals on an individual basis at competitive rates. Just ask for a quotation.

Availability is updated regularly but please e-mail or ‘phone to confirm that your required dates are available.
To confirm your booking we require a non-refundable deposit of £50. We will hold your booking on a provisional basis for seven days to allow time for payments to reach us.
The full balance must be paid not less than six weeks prior to your arrival. If the full balance is not received by the due date we reserve the right to cancel your reservation without further notice. In practice we will attempt to contact you with a reminder ten days, two days and 24 hours prior to the due date.
For bookings made within six weeks of your apartment reservation date payment is required in full and is non-refundable.
We strongly recommend that you have travel insurance in place when you book in case circumstances force you to cancel at a late stage.
Often, the cheapest option is to add travel cover to your household contents policy. This should give equal or better cover than that offered by travel companies or airlines and, in many cases, will be cheaper.
If you wish, the type of car can be changed in accordance with the table below. The Euro equivalents shown are approximations for guidance only as exchange rates vary from day to day. Any additional cost for a vehicle upgrade is payable in GB pounds at the same time as the final balance of the apartment rental amount.
Make and model of car cannot be guaranteed but the vehicle supplied will be of the same type and classification. If a car in the category requested is not available (unlikely) an equivalent type from a higher group will be supplied at the same price as the group ordered.
Upgrades
The car rental company usually provide a Hyundai Atos (but this cannot be guaranteed). Several people have commented favourably about this car. For a small vehicle it feels quite spacious with good headroom front and rear.
The seating position is quite high and gives excellent vision.
Having tried it ourselves we’d say it’s not the fastest thing on four wheels but it’s lively enough, very easy to drive and comfortable.
